cosplay-naruto.com a website with a unique gallery system on Wordpress

Hi.

Today, I got online a new website dedicated to Naruto Cosplay images. The website uses wordpress with a prototype of a gallery system for wordpress that I’m developing. The script is around 1300 lines long, and brings many features that are unavailable until today for wordpress.

cosplay-naruto.com

You might ask “Why wordpress?” there are many image CMS and gallery scripts for this, I say that only wordpress comes with thousands of plugins and themes, a solid interface and a tight security, nothing can beat wordpress in my opinion. But still no reliable gallery plugin is available to use it for picture based websites.

This plugin (I’m still not sure how I will call it) was originally developed to be a wordpress MOD not a plugin, but when I started to learn more about wordpress plugins I decided that a plugin will suffice for the task without altering the original wordpress scripts

The websites theme is also highly customized, I started from the well known Heat Map Theme, which is a SE freindly AD-Sense   ready theme, I changed it to have a dynamic width, played around with the pictures and colors. and finally got a good looking overall.

I will be publishing both the plugin and the theme of wordpress.org once I finish working on a releasable version.

I invite you all to go there and visit,  and please report back if you discover any bugs.

Windows 7 RC to begin restarting every 2 hours on 03-02-2010

If you are still using Window 7 RC with a beta key, you will notice that windows 7 will be auto restarted every two hours starting today March the 2nd 2010.

This is an effort from Microsoft to force the people that are still suing the pre-release version to get the full version on windows 7, or downgrade to a previous OS.

So if you have noticed that your windows server began restarting (apparently  randomly)  after Marsh the first, don’t worry, it is not a hardware issue, it is just a wake up call for you to move on before the beta key you’re using completely expires on June 2010

If you are unsure if you have an RC version on windows 7, just press the start button and type “winver” then hit enter, if you see “Evaluation copy: expires on: 03/02/2010 1:59AM” then you have an RC version

This is a sad day for many many kids around the world.

Mass Effect 2, 7 reasons why I love it

Unlike Dragon age: origin, that I really hated and reviewed here,I’m really loving one, although it is made by the same developer BioWare. 7 reasons why I love this game are as follows

1. High details models. the characters, ships, and weapons are of a very high graphical quality. everything is rendered with high quality textures, check our the picture below for Miranda, a girl from the game.

2. A huge world to discover. Many cities to visit, Many galaxies to fly to, each of which is very distinctive. It’s true that the map is not open, there is no real connected world, but this is not GTA you should not be expecting that. take a look at the picture below from the “after life” a bar in the Omega city (or planet I don’t really know ) .

3. Great conversations, most of the time you can choose alomst any conversation option, it is very rare to see a conversation option that is unreasonably very rude . each option you make will somehow affect the rest of the conversation, the mission, or the game. No matter how you chose to play you will always end up wanting to see what would happen if you choose differently.

4. You actually have a Voice!!, unlike dragon age origin, the developer here went all the way to record every conversation voice with all options for male and female characters!!  we would still be happy if some conversations were text only, but thanks anyway!!

5.Your actions will define exactly how you will evolve, you can choose between Renegade and Paragon actions, even the scares on your face will heal faster if you only do nice actions.

6.The action game play is not the best out there, but it’s still pretty decent for a role playing game, the shooting action, not very great, but you can pull some spectacular powers to make up for that.

7. The storyline is solid, it stays interesting for all the way, it’s true that it very rarely get funny, but you will stay interested to know what will happen next.

Anything I forgot? don’t you agree with me? put your comments below :)

Automatically Detect and Download all your PC drivers

During the last decade, I got the chance to try many driver repairing tools, some of them were free, some were not. I never liked any of them though, some couldn’t correctly detect the hardware that is unrecognized by windows, some provided dead driver download links, and some were loaded with spywares are scarewares.

When I was working on a friends Acer laptop, trying to find almost all of it’s drivers that Windows curiously was unable to recognize any of them. Even the manufacturer was not quite sure what the hell  they put in this model.

That is when I tried a software called Device doctor, I kinda liked it for the following reasons.

1. Free

2. Was able to detect all the needed drivers.

3. Was able to provide driver updates for the installed drivers.

4. All drivers were hosted at the device doctor website.

5. No registration required !

6. There is even a portable version of the software, to be used without installing from a flash drive, if you were geeky enough for that.

I still haven’t got the chance to really check it’s capabilities, but so far, it’s looking good.

You can download Device Doctor here

Also you can get the Portable Device Doctor here

Fix Windows Vista black desktop on Startup

Hi

This problem causes windows to startup to a black screen, with only the “Documents” folder open, once you close it, the screen is all black, no start menu , no background, no icons.

The causes of this are not very clear to be but i suggest that it is related to some form of new virus or malware.

To correct this do the following:

- On the black desctop screen, hold Ctrl + Shift + Esc

-The tast Manager will appear, from the file menu, select run and write “explorer” without the quotations.

-Your computer will load the start menu and will work correctly.

Until now, we still haven’t fixed the problem, the next time you boot your computer , you will have to repeate the same procedure.

No more Clicksor!

Hi

You may have noticed that during the last month I was trying to include some Clicksor in this blog, I got the idea to try them when I found out at the Google Adsense webinar that it is ok to include some ads from other providers as long as they do not confuse the user to be Google ads.

Anyway, Today I’m removing all clicksor ads from this website for the following reasons.

1. Very low income. I tried some of the most successful clicksor ad forms, Interstitial Ads ads, in-text ads, and pop-under ads. For every dollar I made on ad sense, I made around 5-10 cents in clicksor.

2. contextual ads are too stupid, I have never seen it coming up with something smart, OK it will highlight the word “Play Game”, but when you “mouseover” it a small pop up will come with the dumb suggestion “Learn all about Play Game!!”

3.Interstitial Ads do not work most of the time, I use opera, and I often browse my own blog, but only once I have seen the Interstitial Ad in action, it took over the entire screen, and ,,, and,, and thats it, the screen remained white until i clicked a small button on top of the page to close it.

4.Floating ads suck, they do! , first, only 2 ads seemed to appear to me, one about Ad Onion, an ad service, and the other about some stupid mail filter, don’t expect much change in the ad, according to the page contents.

So for now, I’ll stick with Ad sense from Google until further notice.

Have you tried Clicksor? did you like it?

Windows 7 godmodes and hidden settings.

Hi.

Today We’ll be discussing the hidden settings (and shortcuts) in windows 7.

Windows 7 has some developer oriented settings and control panels, for example shortcuts to directly access GPS setting (yes there are GPS settings), biometry settings, or just printer settings.

To unlock these modes all you need to do is to create a folder with any name (angrybyte of instance) then a single dot “.” and then a special code for the required panel

an example would be to create a folder named:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

opening this folder will open the master control panel ( or the godmode as the guy that originally discovered it calls it).

There are also some other modes and hidden settings, I have came up with a method to create them all in one go. You can read more about it in the post : Unlocking all hidden settings & godemodes in windows 7 in the forums

have fun, and remember, it will break down eventually.
