Many of you must have heard about the alteriwnet, for those who didn’t, it is an alternative network to play Call of Duty : Modern warfare II. which has come as a reaction to the lack of dedicated server support on this new COD.

What is good about this network is that cheater can be easily reported and banned from the game ( I hope they would do the same to gl noobs as well).

When you are banned from the network, the game will display a message “Connecting to IWNet…” and never connects.

If you haven’t cheated, (( now have you? >:( )) but you got this message then it could be one of the following:

- Someone has reported you because of a personal problem.

-Someone else using your computer DID cheat and got busted.

For the two above you will have to file a complaint to the alteriwnet forums and see what you can do.

Now for the things that can block you game from connecting even though you are not banned

-You have installed and running Hamachi

-You have installed and running Tunngle

-You have installed an inactive network card

-Your windows mobile phone is connected to your computer

simply go to the “network adapters confuguration” on your cmputer whatever the hell you kids call it today, (on XP: network connections, on Vista:Manage Network Connections, and on 7: confirgure network thingy) And disable every network card excep for the one that is providing you with Internet access. If the game still doesn’t work then your ass is banned or you simply do not have internet access.

To know more about how you can get AlterIWnet visit www.alteriw.net

Go any altenative reasons not to be able to connect? share them here!

Hi.

Today, I got online a new website dedicated to Naruto Cosplay images. The website uses wordpress with a prototype of a gallery system for wordpress that I’m developing. The script is around 1300 lines long, and brings many features that are unavailable until today for wordpress.

You might ask “Why wordpress?” there are many image CMS and gallery scripts for this, I say that only wordpress comes with thousands of plugins and themes, a solid interface and a tight security, nothing can beat wordpress in my opinion. But still no reliable gallery plugin is available to use it for picture based websites.

This plugin (I’m still not sure how I will call it) was originally developed to be a wordpress MOD not a plugin, but when I started to learn more about wordpress plugins I decided that a plugin will suffice for the task without altering the original wordpress scripts

The websites theme is also highly customized, I started from the well known Heat Map Theme, which is a SE freindly AD-Sense ready theme, I changed it to have a dynamic width, played around with the pictures and colors. and finally got a good looking overall.

I will be publishing both the plugin and the theme of wordpress.org once I finish working on a releasable version.

I invite you all to go there and visit, and please report back if you discover any bugs.

Hi everyone. Today we will learn how to record any music , radio, game sound, just anything that your computer can play and save it. This was easy back in days on windows XP. But now it has become a little tricky because the stereo mixing device is now disabled by default in windows 7 and Vista.

To enable it just right click the speaker icon near the clock, then click “recording device”. Then right click any blank space below your devices list and click “Show disabled devices”. Then enable the “Stereo mix” device and set it as the default. Now you can start recording.

This is a first, but I tried to add a video description to this post. please check it out and tell me how you like it. should I have these video descriptions more often?

First I want to give credits to the author of the tutorial Learn AJAX in 20 mins that I improved to be less complicated and noob friendly

AJAX stands for (as if you would remember it) Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. and it is used to send and receive data from the server without having to refresh the entire page.

I assume you have a basic knowledge of HTML and PHP.

First create two empty php files, call the first test.php and the second ajax.php. test.php is the file that will be displayed to the user, while ajax.php is the file that will be contacted by AJAX to send and receive data.

copy the following to test.php

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd”>
<html>

<head>
<meta http-equiv=”content-type” content=”text/html; charset=iso-8859-1″>
<meta name=”author” content=”PsMan”>

<title>Angrybyte.com</title>
</head>

<body>

<script type=”text/javascript”>

var xmlhttp=false;

if (!xmlhttp && typeof XMLHttpRequest!=’undefined’) {
xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
}

function ajax_call() {

xmlhttp.open(“GET”, ‘ajax.php?num1=’ +
document.getElementById(‘t1′).value , true);

xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() {
if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) {
document.getElementById(‘t2′).value = xmlhttp.responseText;
}
}

xmlhttp.send(null)
return false;

}
</script>

<form action=”" onsubmit=”return ajax_call()”>
<input type=”text” name=”t1″ id=”t1″ “>
<input type=”text” name=”t2″ id=”t2″ >
<input type=”submit” value=”ok”>
</form>
</body>
</html>

I will not be explaining the HTML part. not in my 5 mins.
the Java script will be in charge of passing the data from and to the server. xmlhttp which is XMLHttpRequest() is used to read whatever these is on the web-page supplied to it via xmlhttp.open.

the page we are opening with xmlhttp.open contains some GET parameters that we want to pass to the server.

we will read and write the data on the page via document.getElementById which is obvious if you had any experience with java.

The contents of the second PHP file are

<?php
$a=$_GET['num1'];
echo $a . $a ;
?>

put both these files in the same folder of a php server and start test.php

this will simply get any data that is sent from the first field by the GET method and write it twice in the second field

Don’t forget to add the “id” tag to all form fields you which to access by java

Remember to set action=”" in the form to be processed by AJAX, other wise the form will be traditionally submitted somewhere

you can activate ajax on each key press to generate instantaneous interaction (Google wave style ) by adding onkeyup=”return ajax_call()” to the selected form field

This have worked for me on Opera 10, IE8, and firefox

Time is up!

I hope this has been useful. You think you can top my 5mins ? bring it on !

If there are anything you think I should change or add, please comment. Or just say thanks if you feel like it!

On March 13, 2009 Google sent an Email to all Adsense subscribers informing them of its new Ad Targeting method interest-based advertising, and asking website owners to modify their privacy policy to allow google to record visitor’s interests and use them to display advertisements accordingly.

This is how google describes the new service:

“Interest-based ads: Show ads based on user interest categories. Visitation information from my sites may be used to help create interest categories.”

As a webmaster this is a good thing. Google ads have just became smarter, which means more clicks and obviously more income.

On the other hand, as an internet user, your browsing habits will be recorded. So if you look up a new game on Google then visit a couple of websites talking about it, you should expect to see ads about this game (or other games) for the rest of the day (hopefully). It is as if somewhere on the internet your name is linked to this game forever.

I tried to corner the new interest-based advertising by visiting multiple websites about a certain movie, then opening a couple of unrelated websites and another movies review website, but I did not succeed. Maybe because interest-based advertising is not activated yet or I am just doing it the wrong way.

For your info I kept interest-based advertising activated (it is on by default). But if I notice a any movement against it I’ll deactivate it immediately.

A few new keyboard tricks has been implemented in windows Vista, and some more were modified compared to their XP equivalents. for example:

open a folder containing pictures, videos, or just any files. hold Ctrl and roll the mouse wheel. This will change the thumbnails size.

hold Alt while going forward or backward from any folder. This will hide the file-names from appearing. this is perfect for folders containing Photos.

If you have vista Aero. try winkey-tab. this will start switch between active windows in 3D style.

You can always try other keyboard shortcuts from windows XP because most of them still work.

One more thing if you use the “Windows Task Manager” a lot, you can directly activate it by pressing Ctrl-Shift-Esc without having to jump through the logon window.

Here is a very good method to block adult websites, illegal activity websites and scam without having to install any third party software.

We all know that windows content management sucks and it only blocks a handful of unwanted websites. There is a very good method to do it for free without any software popping up every time.

The Idea is to change the DNS server for your computer or the entire network to OpenDNS.

To those who doesn’t know a DNS server is a server that coverts the name of a website to it’s actual IP address. at this level when a known unwanted domain name is requested, the DNS server can refuse to to supply the actual IP address and redirect you to the BLOCKED page.

Now to do this the effective way (not easy to change) you have to change the DNS server inside your router. to this DNS

208.67.222.222

208.67.220.220

To find out how to do it in your router check here

If your network uses static IPs (no DHCP) or if porn websites are not blocked yet, you have to change the DNS for each machine as following:

After that everytime anyone tries to access an unwanted website he will go straight to a page saying that the requested page was blocked.

You can also register at OpenDNS to set specific settings for your network but that will require a static IP from your ISP or a windows fix to allow automatic IP update you can read more about that here

If you are trying to block a real geek don’t try this method and look for a good paid adult website blocking software, may be in the following sponsored links
