play Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X on DirectX 10.1
Tom Clany’s H.A.W.X DX 10.1This game is the first game I know that has a DirectX 10.1 mode, anyway it is a little tricky to activate it.
First, I don’t know of any nVidia card that has DirectX 10.1 support, too bad for the new expansive nvidia 200 series owners. ATI 4800 series a fully compatible.
Second you must have Windows Vista Service pack 1 installed, not even the regular vista will do. Sorry.
Now you must have the game correctly installed and working, you maybe have noticed that there is a disabled DirectX 10 tab in the video options of the game, this trick will enable it as well.
Instead on running the game normally (double clicking the icon) right click it then select “Play Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X DX10″, (You can also browse to the game’s installation folder and open HAWX_dx10.exe instead of HAWX.exe )
You are good to go, now you can enable DirectX 10.1 from the new directX 10 menu in the game’s video settings.
This has been tested and found working on my ATI 4890.

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X is one of 3 games with directX 10.1, the other games are Stormrise and Battleforge.

Too bad nVidia fans
looks like you are going to get some “Graphics card too old” messages within the year.
I’ve just completed all 19 missions of the game on Elite difficulty for most of them.
Good game overall, but It would be better if you were able to land, air refuel, or even drive a helicopter.
nothing much to do after you complete the game, this game should have a skirmish mode.
i have radeo 4890 too but when i diuble cliach on gu_dx10 icon it sends me an error so any advice?
Well, Do you have Windows Vista SP1 installed? if not you should still be able to play on DX 10 not 10.1, but if you have WinXP ( and I think you do because you wrote your comment from from an XP machine
) then you only have DirectX 9, only vista should be able to run DirectX 10.
There are some methods out there to install DirectX 10 on an XP machine, you should google it because I never tried it.
Anyway I suggest you upgrade to windows Vista or wait a little and get Windows 7 with the upcoming “DirectX 11″ I wonder If our card would be be compatible.
Enjoy my friend while the 4890 is still called the most powerful graphics card in the world !
