Final Fantasy XIV not enough space 12GB in My documents driver workaround

Final Fantasy XIV requires 12GB of free space in the drive where “My documents” is. If you are like me, and don’t have that space available you  can do the following to change the default location of your my documents folder available

1.Open my computer and browse to c:\users\yourname\my documents

2. right click the my documents folder, select properties, and then select the tab location. Choose a new location with plenty of space, then hit OK.

That’s it, your document will move and you will be able to install the game.

Actually this is kinda stupid, because instead of writing the error message, they could have added a couple of code lines to allow manual selection of the temp folder for the downloader.

Good luck!!

Just a few unlucky guys  (like me)  get this error when trying to start Call Of Duty Modern Warfare II with AlterIW net.

“The main/iw_22.iwd file is incorrect

The problem with this error is that it does not give you any actual hint on how to solve this problem. The file is correct, try reinstalling from scratch but you will only be wasting your time.

Actually the problem is a networking one!!! no not a file mismatch or corruption. Just go here and follow the method the same that I used to play Resident Evil 5 on LAN

I quote this from that page :

On Vista, open the “Network and sharing center”

From the left pane select “manage network connections”

press the “ALT key” on your keyboard. the top menus will appear

Select “advanced settings” from the menu “advanced”

Use the arrows to move your LAN card up in the list then save everything.

Thats That my friend, Enjoy AlterIW and don’t cheat or noob tube.

MapleStory Error code =-40 solution

I wanted to try the MMORPG MapleStory, I downloaded the client using the direct download link (not the downloader), when I tried to install the game later I got

[ERROR CODE= -40]
installation failed.(11433,0)

I googled around a bit to find that this is caused by a corrupt installation file. What we are doing here today, is to fix the installation without having to re download the entire client.

1. download Flashget (just google it) then install it

2.  From the Import list under file, choose “import corrupted download” find the client installation of the game.

3. Let flashget think about it for a while, then it will ask you for the download URL, go back to the game website and get the link, in my case it was http://download3.nexon.net/maplestory/fullversion/MSSetupv88.exe

4. after thinking about it for a while Flashget will decide how much of the game is missing and needs to be redownloaded. Start the download and let it finish.

5. Install the game and have fun!

This method can be used to repair in corrupted direct download file not Just the MapleStory client discussed here

Black screen during cut scenes – Resident Evil 5

Many people using ATI radeon cards have reported that the screen turns black during the playback of cut scenes in Resident Evil 5.

This is yet again another screw-up from our beloved AMD (formerly ATI) programming team.

Resident Evil 5

To allow the cut scenes of resident evil 5 to play correctly, you must use the ATI Catalyst control center to disable “CATALYST A.I” and “ADAPTIVE ANTI- Aliasing AAA”.

If you still have a problem some people reported that reducing the frame rate limit from unlocked to 30 solved the problem, others said that upgrading Direct X helped.

If you still have a problem, let me know, we will work something out.

You may want to check another post I made concerning “how to play RE5 in co-op mode over LAN”  and other issues.

Correct slow and skipping music in Guitar Hero World Tour PC

imagesIs the music in guitar hero world tour skippy as if you were listening to a scratched CD? The solution may be this:

The default bit rate of your sound card is set too high (studio quality or so). you should find the default bitrate in your sound card’s control panel and reduce it.

The easiest way to do this (in windows vista) is right clicking the speaker icon next to the clock in the taskbar and select  ”playback devices” double click your default speakers icon, and click advanced.

Change the default format to 16 bit 44100 (CD  quality) save everything and close.

Start the game now it should work fine. no more skipping. It’s time for you to rock the world with 5 notes :~

I’m currently working on enabling normal game controllers to work for the game to enable multiplayer band modes. Any Ideas?

Fix corrupted or missing hair in The Sims3

sims hair

Let me guess, you have  a stat of the art ATI  graphics card and you are shocked by the corrupted or transparent geometries in “The Sims3″ specially the characters hair.

The reason is a malfunction in your graphics card’s “Adaptive anti-aliasing “. Open Catalyst control center and disable “Adaptive anti-aliasing”.

This same features caused a similar problem with Velvet assassin that I discussed before .

You can also read about the ATI driver and some of my thoughts about it here

Velvet Assassin transparent head fix

velvet_assassin_artThere is a bug in velvet assassin where the character’s head (and other objects in the game) appear transparent.

The cause of this bug is that the game is not compatibe with ATI “Adaptive Anti-Aliasing”, to fix this tranparency issue just disable that feature. you can find it in the 3d section in the catalyst control center (CCC)

This fix may also work on the same bug with GTA IV but I didn’t try it first hand.

swsDoes Shaun White Snowboarding Crashing right after you start it? Do you have Core i7 ? If yes, then please know that the genius behind this Dec-2008 game did not bother to make it compatible with intel core i7.the latest CPU technology. . Thumbs down on this one UBISOFT

You can always go to you boards BIOS and disable Hyperthreading technology. Some claim that it will you allow you to run the game but with very low performance. Me I will never change no bios settings for no game. Period

What about you?
