activate the Missing Hard disk partition in windows 7

November 4, 2009 by PsMan · 2 Comments

after I installed windows 7 on my pc, I noticed that 1 of my 5 hard disk  partitions was missing. the real cause of this is not yet clear to me, it is probably related to the ability of the windows 7 installation process to assign driver letters to a big number of partitions, but who knows.

Anyway to get back your partitions do not try extreme solutions such as BIOS settings and chipset INF files, just follow the following steps.

1. right click “Computer” and select “manage” . click “disk management” from the list on the left.

2. locate the missing partition, it is usually the partition without a driver letter.

3. right click it and assign a driver letter to it.

That’s it ! everything should work just fine now.

By the way what was you first impression after installing windows 7? I don’t know about you but I was a little disappointed

This tool allows you to repair your Patriot Memory flash disk if you are unable to format it with any other method because it appears as Read-only.

This method performs a low-level format to the disk and remove the Read-only attribute.

This tool is not available from the patriot memory website, only the support guys can directly email it to you.

Here is a copy of the email a friend got from the support team on how to use this tool.

Dear Valued Customer,

Attached I have included a software that will low level format and re-initialize the device. Please keep in mind using this software will delete all the data on the drive and restore the drive to its original manufacturer stage.

Please make sure to detach all other flash drives and only have the Patriot Memory drive plugged in to your computer when using the utility.

The file name is been set to Patriot.vin. Once you download the file, rename to Patriot.zip and use the software. Please be aware that this process can only be completed one time!

Patriot Memory Technical Support Team

I have successfully used this tool to repair a patrioit 8GB Xporter. the downside is that according to the support team this tool can only be used once for every flash disk for some reason.

Here is the download link. Patriot Memory 2.9.0.5

please report about the results of using this tool

Good luck

Activating the sound front panel on Asrock motherboards

sometimes, after installing a new asrock motherboard, you will notice that the front panel is not working (either the MIC or the headset jacks). this problem is caused by the board failing to detect that your computer case does have a front panel and that it is connected.

To get around this problem and use your front panel, go to the BIOS settings and find the front panel detection setting and change it from auto to enabled. this will make the front panel jacks appear in your realtek audio manager.

This problem has been detected by Asrock and they released new BIOS versions that change the default setting to enabled instead of auto.

I used to love asrock, but not anymore, what about you? do you like the newer asrock MBs?

Resizing hard disk partitions in windows Vista

InWindows Vista, you will not be needing any third party application such as Partition Magic to resize/ split you hard disk partitions without losing any data.

To achieve the best results I recommend backing-up important data (you never know), moving any large files to an extra partition or flash disk, and finally run a defragmentation.

Radeon Catalyst and display driver 9.6 NEW

ex_08apr_dmm_radeon4890_gameA new driver is released for almost all recent Radeon display adapters. The following improvements are announced with this new driver

  • Company of Heroes – performance improves up to 25% with HD 4600 series products and below as well as improvements of up to 10% on HD 4800 series
  • Crysis – performance improves up to 13% in multi-GPU configurations
  • Crysis Warhead – performance improves up to 11% in multi-GPU configurations
  • World in Conflict – performance improvements of up to 30% can be seen in settings
    that were previously CPU limited

Also, some crashes and problems with the CCC has been fixed.

This is all great, but now in a time where AMD (ATI) cards are considered better than their equivalents in nVidia, I think it is time for AMD to stand up for the challenge and fix embarrassing bugs such as:

  • 3D graphics corruption in many games with Adaptive anti-aliasing enabled.
  • Games crash on minimize and resolution changes.
  • funny looking effects.
  • Buggy deinterlacing that actually make movies interlaced (scan-line effect)
  • V-sinc does not know when to turn on or off

AMD (ATI) must work more with the developers and do more “Best played on Radeon” games. Also it is time to flood the market with DirectX 10.1 games, since no nVidia cards already supports it. and I’m not talking about crappy games such as Stormrise.

Radeon card are strong but I feel that this miss a Strong software support.

what do you think

swsDoes Shaun White Snowboarding Crashing right after you start it? Do you have Core i7 ? If yes, then please know that the genius behind this Dec-2008 game did not bother to make it compatible with intel core i7.the latest CPU technology. . Thumbs down on this one UBISOFT

You can always go to you boards BIOS and disable Hyperthreading technology. Some claim that it will you allow you to run the game but with very low performance. Me I will never change no bios settings for no game. Period

What about you?
